About Pauline Daglish

From as early as she can remember, music has played a big part in Pauline’s life. She was introduced to the enjoyment of listening to music when she was a small child,
courtesy of her Father and his enviable record collection. His musical tastes were wide ranging, from opera, ballet and classical music to the American big band sounds of Count Basie and Glen Miller. However, his favourites were the easy listening arrangements of James Last, Mantovani and Geoff Love. These early musical experiences inspired Pauline to want to learn to play the piano, and she will be forever grateful to her parents who allowed her to take piano lessons from an early age.

At secondary school, Pauline auditioned to be a member of the school choir, and also the brass band, where she learned to play her second instrument, the cornet.

This opened up a completely different way of music making to Pauline, giving her the skills, musicianship and confidence to join choirs and bands outside of school. This led to another exciting opportunity to develop her instrumental skills further by learning to play orchestral tuned percussion instruments.

Pauline’s love of music, and her wish to share this enjoyment with others, led her to qualify as a music teacher. She is an extremely motivated and dedicated individual, and has enjoyed a very successful career teaching music in both primary and secondary schools, as well as having extensive experience of providing private piano tuition. Her high standards of achievement and her ability to work well with others have generated an excellent record of success with students of all ages.

Being a highly experienced performer as a soloist, an accompanist and in various ensembles, Pauline has been privileged to perform in concerts and competitions at many prestigious venues including
London’s Royal Albert Hall and the Royal Concert Hall in Nottingham, as well as on many studio recordings and even the occasional appearance on TV! Furthermore, she has played in pit orchestras for many local performances of shows from the West End, including ‘The Sound of Music’, ‘Bugsy Malone’, ‘We will Rock you’, ‘Back to the 80’s’, ‘Hairspray’ and ‘The Wizard of Oz’.

In addition to performing music, Pauline has directed a diverse range of musical ensembles, from orchestras and brass bands to choral and tuned percussion groups and has used her proficient skills as an arranger to write her own musical arrangements for them. Pauline is proud of the fact that she has enabled many musicians of all abilities the opportunity to confidently take part in performances and, most importantly, enjoy their own music making experience.

Whether you are looking for piano tuition, or whether you are interested in joining the Major Oak Pop Choir, you can rest assured that in Pauline, you have found someone with the necessary expertise, enthusiasm and passion to unlock your musical potential and enjoyment.
